About
Welcome to my home on the web, kaiyzen.com.
Kaizen, or Kaiyzen, is pronounced ‘”k-eye-zen”. When translated from Japanese to English means “Good Change”, or “Change for the Better”.
I look at Kaiyzen as “The Art of Continual Improvement”.
I first came across the concept of Kaiyzen back in 1998 when taking a tour of the NUMI manufacturing plant in Fremont, California. I instantly became intrigued with the concept and studied it further. At the time I was just getting into studying the art form of skratch dj’ing and I saw many parallels between the concepts of Kaiyzen and the art form. The approach one takes to increase their skill set takes a certain precise determination involving much repeition and meticulous practice.
Almost 10 years later and its more relevant to me then ever. Technology, design, music, travel, entrepreneurship, and a thousand other random topics and subjects keep my brain occupied on a weekly/daily basis. My experiences and the people I have met over the years has greatly helped me open up and be introduced to new things I might have otherwise missed out on. I make it my personal mission to always be accelerating at that which invokes intrigue and passion.., as well as continuously searching out new experiences that inspire me.
I live, work and play in the SF Bay Area. I attended Santa Clara University for undergrad for Computer Science and Math. I my professional work life I have been involved in the mobile and enterprise software industry for over 10 years, with a small diversion to work in the non-profit sector as well as dabbling in apparell. I have spent time in music, playing in a band, dj’ing in SF and competing in skratching compeitions.
Currently I have launched the Kaiyzen Group which is providing startup advisory services. Drop me a line if you are interested at nate - at - kaiyzen - dot - com.
