Kaiyzen Group

Arrived in Tokyo and immediately I have the comforts of home in the form of Starbucks to welcome me at the airport.  It is actually pretty amazing/intersting to me the extent of which U.S. food and coffee places make their way over here.  Beyond Starbucks there is Tully’s and Coffee Bean as well not to mention the wide array of fast food chains.

I have been looking forward to visiting Tokyo for some time and the city has not let me down.  Much like London, Tokyo is a vast city sprawling out as far as the eye can city with great public transport to zip around and check things out.  Between my love of sushi and of course with the whole Kaizen/Kaiyzen thing you know I am crazy about Japanese culture in general.

Unfortunately work is.., and will be taking up pretty much all of my time here.  I will be getting some free time this weekend before heading to the next destination (Singapore).

One of the funny and unique thing here is the taxi cab drivers.  Most are older gentleman who are nice and nice and helpful with getting you to the destination.., but all have the funniest photos on display.., below is an example, its a little dark, but you can make out just enough to get the point across:

One thing about the taxis that are cool that I am just starting to encounter when in NY is video players in them.  They have them in a high number of the taxis.  They play some of the funniest shite on them.  One of them is a series from MTV Japan called Train Surfer.., quite entertaining.., check out the website here.

I havent got the gut busting laughs in a while.., but two of our taxis played this cartoon series that was the funniest.., most random thing I have seen in a very very long time.  I wish I would have captured the first one.., managed to get the second one on video from my phone:

Getting ready for the Expo to start, I love pretty much any trade show so should be good times.  Will report more after the show.

I frickin cannot believe I am actually a huge fan of a primetime major network show but CBS has nailed it for me with their How I Met Your Mother show.

The casting is great.  The standout for the show is definitely Neil Pattrick Harris.  He character Barney is somewhat like the persona he played in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

The writing and flow of the show is fantastic and in last weeks episode they busted out something soooooooooooo dope that has prompted my love of the show to vault to the next level where I will basically force the show on anyone whom I believe might even be remotely interested…, hense this posting.

The episode was a mock of the NCAA tourney where Barney is trying to figure out which of his former hookups is trying to sabotage him with other women.  He sets up a bracket of the top 64 candidates and seeks out the final four to try and see who the woman is.

He goes to a coffee shop to seek out one of them whom he told he was Ted Mosby and an architect.., this happens to be one of his good buddies in the show who is another main character.  She tells him that she is not taking down the website.., he responds with “What website?”.., she then tells him about tedmosbyisajerk.com.

As we watched the DVR’d episode they falshed a quick screen shot.  We rewinded.., then popped my laptop to browse the site and sure enough.., they setup a site for the episode.  You need to check it out, its pretty damm histarical.

Its this type of writing that puts this show head and shoulders above most of the garbage out there and CBS gets kudos for leveraging the web and taking fan interaction up a notch.

Speaking of leveraging the web CBS has full episodes.., including “The Bracket” on their site.  Give it a watch when you need to kill some time.

Aaaaaaahhhhh.., the wonders of the interenet.

Over the past few years I have had this ever growing passionate disliking for Google.  I dont like to use the word hate for anything…, so passionate disliking is as about as much as you can get on my shit list.
